Our customers quickly fell in love with the concept. The simplicity, convenience, and quality of the experience led us to expand our reach, and within a year, we proudly opened a second location in Houston. This overwhelming positive response affirmed one clear message: people value high-quality photos that don’t break the bank.
In 2023, as we continued to grow, we began noticing a new trend on the horizon—AI Headshot Generators. The idea was really intriguing and aligned perfectly with our mission of democratizing access to professional photos. However, after experimenting with several available AI tools, we encountered a recurring issue: the quality just didn’t measure up. The headshots often appeared pixelated, and some even altered facial features in ways that felt unnatural or downright bizarre. This was not something we were willing to offer to our customers. This photo completely changed my facial structure, teeth, and forehead... However, rather than being discouraged, we were still impressed with the potential of the technology. We started following the advancements in AI technology and continuously tested the latest models—from Stable Diffusion and DALL-E to Flux and Midjourney. By late 2024, we finally found an AI model that could deliver headshots with almost 90%+ fidelity from those taken in our physical studios.
That’s when we decided to start focusing on bringing AI technology to FotoLab Studio. With our years of experience in producing high-quality photos and our deep commitment to accessible, affordable photography, we had the perfect foundation to build something differentiated from all the offerings on the market.
